Kelly Spellman has enjoyed working as an Esalen Massage Therapist for over 18 years. A fascination with mysticism, psychology and the human potential movement drew her to the Esalen Institute in the late 1990’s. Her first Esalen massage on the Big Sur cliffs by the ocean gave her the feeling captured in the Powers of Ten movie of going out into the vastness of the cosmos and back into the body. She thought “Wow! I have to learn how to do this!” She returned to Esalen in 2003 for the 250 hour Esalen Massage Certification Training and went on to complete 500 hours of training in Esalen massage. In 2006 she became a healing artist at the Esalen Institute and worked there for over 16 years.
Being a practitioner at Esalen gave her the opportunity to hang out and absorb teachings from many luminaries in the fields of embodiment practices, Gestalt therapy and healing arts. Her love of learning and desire to deepen and evolve her skills led her to Kerala, India, to study Yoga and Ayurveda and Thailand to study Thai Massage. She also studied Multi-Dimensional Bodywork and Reiki I and II in San Francisco. She has recently completed an intensive Esalen Massage Teacher Training and is happy to impart the transformational magic of Esalen massage to students. She is forever inspired by coastal living, her amazing clients, her wild and creative friends, family and teachers, and her pet Guinea Pigs who appreciate Reiki treatments.
Kelly’s massage will melt stress and tension away creating space for the body to connect to its innate capacity to heal. Instead of feeling fragmented the physical body will relax into a sense of unity, wholeness and float out of the session on a fluffy cloud of bliss.
